Using the Keyword Brainstorming Tool
Discover how to generate hundreds of topical entity clusters and silo structures using the Brainstorm feature.
Keyword Brainstorming
The Keyword Brainstorming tool is designed to help you map out topical entities before you begin evaluating individual keywords. It uses search engine autocomplete APIs to visually map out user intent.
How to Build a Topic Map
- Navigate to Brainstorm in the left sidebar.
- Enter a broad, primary seed keyword (e.g., 'coffee beans').
- Click Search.
Analyzing the Tree
The tool will generate a visual node map of 'children' keywords. This shows you exactly how Google categorizes your parent topic into sub-niches (e.g., 'coffee beans wholesale', 'coffee beans near me', 'coffee beans roasting').
- Expanding Nodes: Click on any child node to expand it further and discover deeper, hyper-specific long-tail variations.
- Saving to Project: You can right-click any node to send that phrase directly to the Keyword Research tool for volume and difficulty evaluation.
Best Practice for Silos
Use the first tier of nodes as the primary categories (pillars) on your website, and use the second tier of nodes as your individual blog post topics.
