How to Set Up Your First Rank Tracking Project
Step-by-step instructions for adding domains, selecting locations, and tracking daily keyword position changes.
Setting Up Rank Tracking
Monitoring your organic rankings is essential to measure the ROI of your SEO efforts. Keyword Revealer's Rank Tracker automates this process daily.
Step 1: Create a Project
- Navigate to Rank Tracker from the left-hand navigation.
- Click the Add Project button.
- Enter your domain name (e.g.,
example.com). Do not includehttps://orwww.unless you specifically only want to track a specific subdomain.
Step 2: Configure Location Settings
Rankings vary drastically by geographic location and device.
- Search Engine: Select Google Desktop or Google Mobile.
- Location: Choose the specific country (and city if local SEO is your focus).
- Language: Set the preferred search language.
Step 3: Add Keywords
Paste the list of keywords you want to track for the domain. Ensure you are tracking keywords that you have already optimized content for, or keywords you intend to target soon.
Understanding the Data
Once the initial scan completes (usually within minutes), you'll see your current position, the estimated monthly search volume, and the URL that is currently ranking.
- Green Arrow: Your position has improved since yesterday.
- Red Arrow: Your position has dropped.
- Star Icon: Indicates you are ranking in a SERP Feature (like a Featured Snippet or Local Pack).
