Running a Content Health Audit

Learn how to use the Content Health Audit to get a comprehensive SEO score, AI visibility analysis, and a copy-paste-ready action plan for any page on your site.

What is the Content Health Audit?

The Content Health Audit is an all-in-one diagnostic that scores any page across four critical SEO dimensions — on-page structure, keyword targeting, AI visibility, and backlink authority — then generates a ready-to-use action plan to fix every gap it finds. It is available exclusively on the Elite plan (up to 10 audits per day).

[!IMPORTANT] The Content Audit is an Elite-only feature. If you are on a Free, Basic, or Pro plan, you will need to upgrade to Elite to access it.

Why Use It?

Instead of manually checking your title tags, meta descriptions, schema markup, keyword difficulty, backlink profile, and AI citability separately across different tools, the Content Audit combines all of these into a single report with a composite score out of 100.

How to Run an Audit

Step 1: Navigate to Content Audit

  1. Open Content Audit from the left-hand navigation menu.
  2. Enter the full URL of the page you want to audit (e.g., https://example.com/blog/seo-guide).
  3. Optionally enter a target keyword. If you leave this blank, the audit will auto-extract the primary keyword from the page title.

Step 2: Wait for Processing

The audit runs in the background through a 5-step pipeline. You will see a progress bar updating in real-time:

  1. Analyzing page structure (10%) — Scrapes the page and evaluates title, meta, headings, word count, and JSON-LD schema.
  2. Researching keyword metrics (30%) — Pulls search volume, keyword difficulty, and competition data from DataForSEO.
  3. Checking AI visibility (55%) — Uses Gemini AI to evaluate whether your page would be cited in Google's AI Overviews.
  4. Analyzing backlink profile (75%) — Checks Trust Flow, Citation Flow, and referring domains via Majestic.
  5. Generating action plan (88%) — Creates copy-paste-ready title tags, meta descriptions, JSON-LD schema, and a full content outline.

Step 3: Review Your Results

Once complete, you will see your Overall Content Health Score (0-100) broken down into four sub-scores.

Understanding the Score

The overall score is a weighted composite of four pillars:

PillarWeightWhat It Measures
On-Page25%Title length, meta description, H1 tag, word count, heading structure, JSON-LD schema
Keyword25%Keyword difficulty, search volume, competition level
AI Visibility30%Whether AI engines would cite your page, missing topics, direct-answer formatting
Backlinks20%Trust Flow, Citation Flow, number of referring domains

Score Ranges

  • 80-100: Excellent — your page is well-optimized and likely to rank.
  • 60-79: Good — a few improvements could significantly boost performance.
  • 40-59: Fair — multiple areas need attention before this page can compete.
  • 0-39: Poor — significant structural and content gaps exist.

Using the Action Plan

The most powerful part of the audit is the AI-generated Action Plan, which gives you four copy-paste-ready deliverables:

1. Optimized Title Tag

A perfectly crafted <title> tag (max 60 characters) that includes your target keyword naturally. Copy it directly into your CMS.

2. Optimized Meta Description

A compelling meta description (max 155 characters) with a call-to-action. Designed to maximize click-through rate from SERPs.

3. JSON-LD Schema Block

A complete, valid <script type="application/ld+json"> block ready to paste into your page HTML. Includes Article schema with headline, description, author, and date fields.

4. Content Outline

A full content brief with:

  • H2/H3 section headings organized in a logical silo structure
  • Atomic Answer paragraphs — pre-written 2-3 sentence introductions for each section, designed to be cited by AI answer engines
  • Word count targets per section
  • Image/video suggestions for visual content opportunities
  • Internal link recommendations to other relevant pages on your site

[!TIP] Use the Atomic Answer paragraphs as your opening paragraph for each section. These are specifically formatted for AI citation — factual, concise, and authoritative.

Caching & History

  • Caching: Results are cached for 24 hours. If you audit the same URL within that window, the cached result is returned instantly (no API cost). Use the Force Refresh toggle to bypass the cache.
  • History: All past audits are saved to your account. View them from the Audit History tab to track score improvements over time.
  • Delta Tracking: When you re-audit a URL, the report shows the score change compared to your previous audit — so you can measure the impact of your optimizations.

Daily Limits

Elite plan users are allocated 10 content audits per day. Each audit consumes approximately $0.21 in API costs (DataForSEO + Gemini + Majestic), which is why the feature is limited to Elite subscribers.

[!NOTE] Daily limits reset at Midnight (00:00) UTC. You can check your remaining audits in the usage panel under My Account.
